ANXIETY 

Anxiety is more than just feeling stressed or worried. While stress and anxious feelings are normal in situations where we feel under pressure, they usually pass once the stressful situation has passed.  

Everyone feels anxious from time to time, but when anxious feelings don't go away, or start to become unmanageable for no particular reason, it may be the sign of an anxiety disorder.  

Anxiety is one of the most common mental  health condition in Australia, and it is estimated that one in four people experience anxiety at some stage in their life. Hypnotherapy can help you to change your anxious thoughts, break the cycle of continuous worrying, and help in connecting you to a sense of calmness and confidence. 

 

 


QUIT SMOKING
Tobacco smoking is the largest preventable cause of death and disease in Australia today.

Tobacco smoke contains nicotine (an addictive drug) and other toxic and cancer-causing chemicals which

damage your health and also affects the people around you through second-hand smoke.

Tobacco smoke damages almost every part of your body, increasing your risk of cancer and other diseases.

There is also growing evidence to suggest that smoking has a negative impact on mental health. 

There are many studies to verify the success of clinical hypnosis in helping smokers to quit the habit.

Generally speaking it can be said, that the readiness of the smoker to cease

is the most important factor in successful outcomes.  

Most importantly, studies emphasize that patient collaboration and motivation to quit is highly correlated with successful outcomes. Clinical Hypnosis is not a 'magic bullet' and requires effort on the part of the smoker. Overall Hypnotherapy is a very safe and drug free method of helping smokers to quit the habit. 

 

DEPRESSION

Depression is a very common mental condition. Symptoms may include; feeling sad,

loss of interest in the things that normally make us happy, feelings of guilt and low self-worth, poor sleep,

changes in appetite, fatigue, poor concentration, and social withdrawal.

Depression results from a complex interaction of many factors including; social problems such as relationship breakdown, family conflict, psychological and biological factors such as trauma, poor health and chronic illness.

People who have gone through adverse life events such as unemployment, bereavement, childhood abuse or

trauma, may experience increased risk of depression. 

               

Hypnotherapy can help a person to develop increased control over feelings of anxiety, stress, and sadness. Hypnotherapy is also used to increase hopefulness and motivation, and to change any negative thought patterns

or behaviors that could be causing depression.

Poor sleep, excessive alcohol intake or other unhealthy lifestyle factors are also seen as contributing factors in depression. Hypnotherapy can help individuals to set healthy goals and to move forward from feelings of loneliness  and sadness.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Excessive weight gain or obesity, is one of the biggest health problems today in the developed world.

   Many serious health conditions are associated with obesity including; 

high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, heart disease and type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer, sleep apnea,

osteoarthritis, fatty liver disease,

and many more medical conditions.

 

The cause of excessive weight gain isn't simple and involves a complex interaction of physical, psychological

and sometimes genetic conditions. 


Hypnotherapy is very effective for weight management. Therapeutic goals include; healthy diet, regular physical exercise, and self-care strategies.

Scientifically strict diets have been proved unhelpful in the long term management of  weight issues.

STRESS

Stress is a normal human response to challenging or dangerous situations. Stress triggers the "fight, flight,

freeze" response, preparing the body to take action against potential danger.

Hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol are released, causing the heart rate, metabolism and breathing rate

to speed up. This works well for short-term threats, but if the stress response goes on for too long, it can have damaging effects on the mind and body.

 

Stress can be caused by our circumstances or even by our own attitudes and expectations.

 

If our experience of stress is greater than our ability to cope, we may suffer physical, social, and mental health issues.   
The core of stress management is learning how to relax and process thoughts differently. 

Hypnosis is a highly effective method of achieving this.

Positive hypnotic suggestions utilize the individual's imagination to develop ongoing healthy coping

strategies to achieve a sense of calmness and self control. 

INSOMNIA

Insomnia is a sleep disorder where you have trouble falling and/or staying asleep.

The condition can be short-term (acute) or can last a long time (chronic). The 2 main types of insomnia are:

 

  • Primary insomnia - means your sleep problems aren’t necessarily linked to health conditions and may be related to stressful life conditions such as; job loss, exams, death of a loved one, divorce, moving house, noisy neighbors etc.

  • Secondary Insomnia - may be due to health conditions such as; depression, anxiety, arthritisheartburnpainmedication; alcohol or drugs etc.

 

Hypnotherapy for insomnia creates a sense of inner calm, and teaches relaxation skills and strategies to alleviate symptoms of insomnia. Hypnotic suggestions can encourage restful sleep, and the ability to sleep soundly.

 Whilst medical causes of insomnia should be treated medically, clinical hypnosis can bring about significant improvements in individuals with sleep disorders.
